Today is a good time to thank you for all the kindness you have shown to people everywhere. We never know the impact of our little “thanks” when someone just needs one uplifting word.
May gratitude be always on your lips and in your heart.
World Kindness Day was first introduced in 1998 by the World Kindness Movement. This organization was formed at a Tokyo conference in 1997 when Japan brought kindness organizations of multiple nations together and emphasized the necessity of a global kindness movement. Currently, over 28 countries are a part of the World Kindness Movement group.
This day is now celebrated on November 13 each year to emphasize the importance of being kind and to help everyone understand that compassion for others is what binds us all together. On World Kindness Day, groups and individuals are encouraged to go out of their way to be kind to others. It’s also a good reminder to let others around us know how much we appreciate their kindness.
Looking out the window this morning, I was reminded of the beauty of our world.

Scattering kindness is how Matt Blair lived his life, and how I believe he would want to be remembered. While “He embodied the best of what it means to be a Viking” said Mark Wilf, Minnesota Vikings Owner, he was also so much more.
I had the privilege of inviting Matt to a number of nonprofit events where he thrilled kids and shared his love of life. A memory I’ll always treasure is when Matt joined Jerelyn Steele on stage at the Mall of America to sing “Stand By Me.”
While Matt Blair is no longer part of this world, his kindness lives on.
How can we thank the teachers and staff who tirelessly work to educate and comfort our youth? Whether or not we have children in school, we all want our future generation to thrive and grow.
As a simple gesture of thanks, my husband and I decided to give a gift of coffee to teachers and staff at the Lucy Laney School in Minneapolis and Partnership Academy in Richfield, Minnesota. Perhaps as important, is the little note card we are adding to the bags of coffee which say “Someone has given you this card because You Are Awesome!”
By purchasing bags of ground coffee from the Friends of San Lucas, we’re also supporting the coffee farmers in Guatemala. Coffee can be shipped anywhere in the USA.

A mentor often shares experiences, but rarely do they know the benefits to their own life. Having the opportunity to mentor twin girls gave me many unexpected blessings. When meeting at age five, I could not have imagined the joy of sharing ice cream treats, and years later seeing them in a National Guard uniform while serving in Kuwait.
